AUT University

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is a New Zealand university established in 2000, evolving from a technical college founded in 1895. It has five faculties across three Auckland campuses City, North, and South plus three specialist sites.

In 2016, AUT had over 29,000 students, including 4,194 international and 2,417 postgraduate students. Its diverse student body spans various ethnicities and age groups. The university employed 2,474 staff (FTE) and reported that 86% of graduates secured full-time jobs within nine months. AUT ranked 441–450 in the 2016 QS World University Rankings.

University of Auckland

The University of Auckland, established in 1883, is New Zealand’s leading research-led university. It holds a Five Stars Plus QS rating for excellence in multiple categories and is the only NZ university ranked in the QS top 100 and Times Higher Education top 200.

As the country’s largest university, most students study at the City Campus, centrally located near Auckland’s business district, transport hubs, and vibrant social scene.






Massey University

Massey University, based in Palmerston North, New Zealand, has major campuses in Albany and Wellington. With around 35,000 students, including 17,000 in distance learning, it is the country's second- largest university.

It is New Zealand’s only university offering degrees in aviation, dispute resolution, veterinary medicine, and nanoscience. Its veterinary school is internationally accredited, and its agriculture programmed ranks19th globally (QS). Massey’s Bachelor of Aviation is an internationally recognized qualification with Royal Aeronautical Society and ISO9001-2000 accreditation.

Victoria University of Wellington

Victoria University of Wellington, established in 1897, is known for its strong programmes in law, humanities, and sciences. It offers open-entry first-year courses, with selective admission for some second-year programmes like law, criminology, and architecture.

Victoria achieved the highest research grade in New Zealand’s 2012 Performance-Based Research Fund and ranked 229th in the 2015 QS World University Rankings, improving by 46 places from 2014.



University of Canterbury

The University of Canterbury, New Zealand’s second-oldest university, was founded in 1873 as Canterbury College. Originally in Christchurch Central City, it moved to its Ilam campus by 1975, with its former neo-Gothic buildings now part of the Christchurch Arts Centre.

The university offers degrees across diverse fields, including arts, engineering, law, health sciences, and forestry.





University of Otago

The University of Otago, established in 1869 and located in Dunedin, is New Zealand’s oldest university. It is renowned for its vibrant student life, beautiful historic architecture, and strong research reputation, particularly in health and science fields. Otago offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in arts, science, business, law, education, and health sciences.

Lincoln University

Lincoln University, established in 1990, specializes in agriculture, commerce, environment, and related fields. Located on a 50-hectare campus near Christchurch, it attracts students from over 60 countries.

In 2016, it had 6,279 students and 318.7 full-time equivalent staff.



University of Waikato

The University of Waikato, established in 1964, is a comprehensive university in Hamilton, New Zealand, with a satellite campus in Tauranga.
